— You recently took on the role of Executive Director at the Citrus Heights Chamber of Commerce. What inspired you to step into this position?
I’ve always been passionate about connecting people and helping businesses thrive. When the opportunity came up to lead the Citrus Heights Chamber, it felt like the perfect fit. I was excited to bring the knowledge I gained from my years in Folsom to the Citrus Heights Chamber and their businesses. This community has so much potential, and I wanted to be a part of shaping its future—supporting local businesses, fostering economic growth, and making Citrus Heights an even better place to do business.
— What are some of your key priorities for the Chamber in the coming year?
We’re focused on driving engagement, increasing member value, and strengthening our role as a business advocate. We’ve launched new programs like Business Boosters, Leadership Citrus Heights, and Connection Circle to provide more opportunities for networking, education, and collaboration. We’re also working closely with city officials to align on economic development initiatives that directly benefit our business community.
— How does the Chamber support local businesses, and what are some of the biggest challenges they face today?
We provide resources, connections, and advocacy to help businesses succeed. Whether it’s through networking events, educational workshops, or working with policymakers on business-friendly initiatives, we make sure our members have the support they need. Right now, workforce shortages, regulatory challenges, and increasing operational costs are some of the biggest hurdles businesses face. The Chamber is here to help them navigate those challenges.
— What do you think sets the Citrus Heights Chamber apart from other business organizations in the region?
We’re truly rooted in this community. Unlike larger, regional organizations, we offer a personalized approach to business support. We know our members by name, and we’re actively working alongside them to help them grow. Plus, we have a strong partnership with the City of Citrus Heights, which allows us to drive meaningful initiatives that impact local businesses directly.
— How do you balance the needs of large and small businesses within the Chamber?
Every business, no matter its size, plays a role in our local economy. We offer tailored opportunities for engagement—whether it’s small business owners connecting through referral groups or larger corporations engaging in city-wide initiatives. Our goal is to ensure that every member, from a family-owned shop to a major employer, feels heard and supported.
— How would you describe the current business climate in Citrus Heights?
It’s evolving. We’re seeing a resurgence in small businesses and an increasing interest in redevelopment. The city has been proactive about business-friendly policies, and there’s a strong sense of momentum as new projects take shape.
The city is working diligently to put processes in place to better help entrepreneurs navigate the entire aspect of starting a business. Their goal is to have a mentor assist them in the permitting process to help them succeed.
— Are there any upcoming economic development projects or initiatives that local businesses should be excited about?
Yes! The Sunrise MarketPlace area continues to evolve, and we’re seeing investments in revitalizing key commercial spaces. The city is also exploring ways to attract new businesses while supporting existing ones through zoning flexibility and streamlined processes.
— What industries or sectors do you see as the biggest opportunities for growth in Citrus Heights?
Retail, hospitality, and service-based businesses continue to be strong, but there’s also potential in tech-enabled services, healthcare, and professional services. With more remote work trends, there’s also an opportunity for co-working and flexible office solutions.
— How does the Chamber collaborate with city officials and other organizations to drive economic development?
We maintain an active partnership with the City of Citrus Heights, working together on initiatives that support local businesses. Whether it’s advocating for zoning adjustments, helping businesses navigate regulations, or partnering on economic development efforts, we’re at the table making sure our members’ voices are heard.
— What advice do you have for new businesses looking to establish themselves in Citrus Heights?
Get involved! Join the Chamber, build relationships, and take advantage of local resources. Citrus Heights is a relationship-driven community, and businesses that actively engage with their peers and customers tend to thrive. When you truly get to know your customers or clients and have a personal relationship with them, that is when they truly want to see your business succeed.
— What are some signature events or programs the Chamber hosts to bring businesses and the community together?
We have a mix of networking, education, and community-focused events. The Best of Citrus Heights Awards, the State of the City Reception, and the Community Awards Dinner are some of our marquee events. Plus, we host regular networking breakfasts, Business Boosters workshops, and the Connection Circle for relationship-building in a non-intimidating way.
— What has been the most rewarding part of your role so far?
Seeing the direct impact we make. Whether it’s helping a small business gain visibility, bringing new ideas to life, or fostering connections that lead to new opportunities, it’s rewarding to see businesses and individuals thrive.
— What do you see as the biggest opportunities for the Chamber in the next five years?
Growing our leadership programs, expanding our advocacy efforts, and strengthening partnerships with the city to drive economic growth. We want to be at the forefront of shaping the future of business in Citrus Heights.
— Who or what has influenced your leadership style the most?
My 12 years as a dance instructor have profoundly shaped my leadership style, fostering a mentorship-based approach rather than that of a traditional boss. I find great fulfillment in guiding employees, helping them grow both personally and professionally, and supporting them as they navigate challenging situations with fresh perspectives. Coupled with hands-on experience in managing dental practices, I’ve honed strong communication skills that allow me to truly empower individuals and inspire confidence as they advance in their careers.
— What’s one piece of advice you’d give to someone looking to make a positive impact in their local business community?
Get involved and be proactive. Join a local organization, volunteer for a committee, or simply start building relationships with other business owners. Collaboration is one of the most powerful and impactful things that can happen within a community and in the region.
— If you could describe your vision for the Citrus Heights Chamber in one sentence, what would it be?
A champion for local businesses, working to make Citrus Heights the best place to live, work, and do business.
