After a lengthy hiatus due to Covid-19, the Sacramento Choral Society and Orchestra and Music Director Donald Kendrick are celebrating their 26th year of concerts in the Capital Region with their début performance of the powerful Requiem by Giuseppe Verdi in the new SAFE Credit Union Performing Arts Center on Saturday, May 14, 2022 at 8 PM. The concert will also featureguest chorus Schola Cantorum of Sacred Heart Church.
The performance will honor the memory and legacy of Sacramento’s celebrated restaurateur Biba Caggiano.
Dedicated to the people of Ukraine and other oppressed nations, the concert will begin with the large Chorus and Orchestra performing the Ukrainian National Anthem.
The performance will also feature outstanding soloists Jennifer Forni, Soprano, Linda Baird, Mezzo Soprano, Robert Breault, Tenor and Timothy Jones, Baritone.
There will be a free post-concert lobby reception to meet the artists. All CD sales at the concert will benefit the UNICEF Ukraine Children’s Fund.
The Verdi Requiem is a work of overwhelming drama and monumental virtuosic brilliance which Brahms called a work of genius.
